A Meditation

As you sit in the Spirit’s loving presence, let this love surround you and embrace you.

Ask the Spirit to heal the blindness of your eyes, your heart, and your mind so that you can see yourself and others as the Spirit sees you and others.

Ask the Spirit to reveal and transform any blind spots that prevent you from facing the truth in yourself, or that prevent you from helping others to face their inner truth. If a particular blind spot comes to mind, invite the Spirit to shine light into the darkness and reveal the truth.

Spirit of Truth, enlighten my mind and heart to see your truth and my truth. Help me to see that your primary truth is that of overflowing love – that your abundant love embraces both darkness and light, pain and joy, fear and courage, weakness and strength, life and death.

I ask for the grace to see my truth in You – to see my darkness and my light, my fears and my courage, my pain and my joy, my self-hatred and my self-acceptance through Your loving gaze. For in seeing myself as You see me, I will be given the light to see others through Your eyes.

Give me an embracing heart like Yours – a heart that embraces my sinfulness, my brokenness, and my vulnerability, as You embrace them. For in embracing myself as You embrace me, I will be able to embrace others in the totality of their truth.

Thank you, Spirit of Light, for enlightening my mind to see divine truth and human realness—my true nature.

Thank you, Spirit of Light, for encouraging me to embrace all aspects of myself, in others and in You – to have healing relationships with myself and with others.

Holy Spirit … heal us.
